Feeling like Donna Reed Apr 26
So if you watched Nick at Night during the early 90s, you know about The Donna Reed Show. For those of you who did not encounter this lovely epitome of a 1950s mom, you missed out. As an eight-year old, I wanted to be Donna Reed. She gave me great ideas for when I was playing house.
Anyways, so the reason I feel like Donna Reed is because We...purchased....the...Breadman tonight! For those of you who I actually get to see, get excited! I probably will share our purchase with you through endowing your taste buds with home-made Breadman bread. Maybe I should really start feeling like Donna Reed when I make the bread and it actually turns out. Now that I'm thinking about it, Donna most likely did not have a bread-maker, nor did she have the KitchenAid Mixer that is sitting right beside it on my baker's rack that never gets used because I cannot lift the top up all the way because the darn rack gets in the way and the mixer is way too heavy to transport to the counter and I do not have room on my counter because...well, if you've been to my kitchen you know why (it's small but sweet). Back to the point...Donna did not have a bread-maker and probably did it the old fashioned way (which I only do when I make banana bread which I won't be doing any longer because I have Mr. Breadman. yay.), but I still feel like her.

OK, please keep us updated on your use of the Breadman! I've been wanting to try a bread machine for a long time now, but I'm too intimidated. I don't have one, but my mom has an unused one I'm sure I could borrow. Maybe you could give a tutorial? Seriously, please track your progress. =)
Just an addendum to this post...The Donna Reed Show actually came on Nick at Night in the late 80s and possibly early 90s. Not sure what I was thinking when I said the early 90s...
I can't wait to try it!! I could very easily be made into a believer, b/c i think there are very few things out there as good as homemade bread. how about a tasting party? I'm excited!!
mmm...can't wait to try some homemade bread! i love it! i did actually buy a bread maker (ask i called it) in high school and tried a few times to make some in it. i failed b/c as always, i didn't read the instructions. i got really confused b/c it had tons of buttons on it. i just stuck with the old fashion way of mixing it up and putting it in the bread pans and baking it.
Wow, you really are Betty Homemaker. Let me know about the bread maker. Sounds like fun!
